Kalinić was once again ready for Kleinheisler effort in the opening minutes of the second half, and Croatia came close to another goal in 76th minute. On as a fresh substitute, Srna was aiming the upper corner from a free-kick, but it went wide.

The Hungarian free-kick just three minutes later brought the equalizer. Captain Dzsudzsak nicely found Kalinić's net.

Into the added time, Croatia captain in Budapest Modrić tried to score with a low shot from the edge of the box, but Bogdan was not to be surprised, and the spoils were eventually shared.
