The inaugural edition of the tournament is being held in Pula and Medulin, and it carries the name of former HNS president Vlatko Marković. Eight U-15 national teams are competing in two groups.
The opening ceremony was held at Aldo Drosina Stadium in Pula, with all eight teams joining the ceremony. The tournament was opened by HNS president Davor Šuker, who wished all of the players a good tournament and welcomed them and their team delegations to Croatia.

The opening was also attended by HNS executive director Marijan Kustić, vice-president Tomislav Svetina, Executive Committee members Davor Ivić and Nenad Črnko, senior advisor to the president Zorislav Srebrić, deputy mayor of Pula Robert Cvek, head instructor Petar Krpan, Croatia U-21 head coach Nenad Gračan, Croatia U-17 head coach Tomislav Rukavina, county football associations coordinator Stjepan Merkaš, competitions coordinator Neven Šprajcer and other HNS representatives.

On the first day of the tournament, Argentina's U-15 team won against Slovakia (Kummer 9', Medina 17', Frutos 35'), while the second match in Group A between Croatia and China ended with a win for the tournament hosts.
In Group B, Mexico beat Greece (4:1; Kantelis 48' / Corpus 9', Madrigal 35', Moreno 40', Murattala 70'), while Korea won against Serbia (3:2; Yang 13', Son 38', Song 47' / Gluščević 28', Vlahović 66').
The "Vlatko Marković" Tournament received financial support from FIFA through the FIFA Forward Programme, and the remaining matches will be played until April 14. Entry to the tournament is free.

The match between Croatia and China took place at Aldo Drosina Stadium. Croatia took the lead with a goal by Gubijan in the 21st minute, and the result remained unchanged until the final whistle. The young Croatians will meet Mexico in the second round of the tournament (April 11, 16:45, Medulin).
