The match between Trešnjevka and ZET, at which VAR technology was used, was also observed by inspectors from FIFA. The guests were greeted by a delegation of the Referees Committee, which was headed by its president and VAR project manager Ante Kulušić.
FIFA's inspectors were very pleased with what they had observed in Zagreb, as the technology functioned without any issues and the match provided several opportunities for VAR usage.
Visits from FIFA's representatives are an integral part of VAR education and introduction, and are a prerequisite for gaining FIFA's approval for using VAR in the Croatian First Division. The introduction of VAR into Croatian football was financed with funds from the FIFA Forward Development Programme.
