Croatia captain Luka Modrić is on the verge of receiving another top award, a place in the FIFA and FIFPro ideal squad of 2016/2017 season.

On Wednesday, FIFA has presented a list of 55 candidates for the FIFA FIFPro World11, the best team of 2016/2017 season based on footballers' votes. More than 24,000 players participate.

The team will be presented in a 4-3-3 formation, with Croatia captain Luka Modrić among the nominated midfielders. Modrić has already received a number of awards following the extremely successful season that included the defence of Champions League title and winning the Primera.

FIFA FIFPro World11 will receive the awards at FIFA's The Best Awards Ceremony on 23 October.

Alongside Modrić, the nominated players include goalkeepers Buffon, De Gea, Navas, Neuer, and Oblak, defenders Alaba, Alba, Alves, Boateng, Bonucci, Carvajal, Chiellini, Godin, Hummels, Lahm, Luiz, Marcelo, Mascherano, Pepe, Pique, Ramos, Silva, Umtiti, Valencia, and Varane, midfielders Alcantara, Busquets, Casemiro, Coutinho, Hazard, Iniesta, Isco, Kante, Kroos, Matić, Özil, Pogba, Verratti, and Vidal, as well as forwards Bale, Benzema, Cavani, Ronaldo, Dybala, Griezmann, Ibrahimović, Kane, Lewandowski, Lukaku, Mbappe, Messi, Neymar, Sanchez, and Suarez.
