On Friday, Croatian Football Federation Assembly elected Davor Šuker as the president, allowing him to remain until 2021. Šuker is at the helm from 2012, when he replaced Vlatko Marković.
Šuker's candidacy was supported by 48 votes.
"I'm excited since we all know what continuity means in football. While playing, we've learned the basics of teamwork, and today many people want an 'instant' sports official. However, I would like as many as possible officials who want to help football through hard work. I hope that all those interested can contribute to Croatian football, since the federation represents both elite clubs and lower tiers, including the basis. Finally, may we all visit Russia next summer in great numbers, and let us enjoy the World Cup from Kaliningrad to Rostov - staying in the competition as long as possible", he said.
