Croatia national football team has selected its EURO 2020 basecamp: St Andrews, at the eastern coast of Scotland.

In December, Croatian Football Federation delegation has visited several potential basecamps in London and Scotland, and following a detailed analysis, the HNS management headed by president Davor Šuker and in accordance with Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalić has selected the Fairmont St Andrews Hotel, a luxury five-star resort with 212 rooms, 17 suites and two extra villas.

It is located 120 kilometres from Glasgow, the venue for two Croatia's matches at EURO 2020, and just half an hour from the local airport.

The FIFA World Cup runners-up will hold practice sessions at St Andrews University - the same ground that was used by Barcelona and Manchester United - merely a ten minute drive from the hotel, which also offers excellent fitness, recovery and leisure facilities.

"We wanted to provide Croatia squad with the best possible conditions during EURO 2020. Therefore, we have selected St Andrews. In Russia, we have learned how important it is to enjoy tranquility, nature, and quality sports infrastructure - a hotel and a ground at the highest level. I am convinced that this is the best solution for our squad", said HNS president Davor Šuker.

"I would like to express my gratitude to Croatian Football Federation for a detailed analysis and presentation of all the options. Finally, our decision was unanimous. I believe we can have excellent conditions here in Scotland, just as we had back in Russia. The basecamp is an important factor, not just for practice sessions, but also to create team unity. This location provides brilliant foundations in that direction", added the silver-winning head coach Zlatko Dalić.
