A thick fog greeted the players in Velika Gorica from the very start, and only grew denser as the match progressed. Despite the difficult conditions, Croatia managed to impose themselves as the dominant team. Ivica Olić’s side controlled possession and patiently broke through Lithuania’s defensive block until finally taking the lead in the 27th minute.
Fabijan Krivak opened the scoring, and the advantage was extended by Lovro Zvonarek in the 73rd minute. In the closing stages, Leon Grgić confirmed Croatia’s convincing victory with two goals — in the 82nd minute and in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
With this triumph, Croatia remain at the top of the group and continue their strong form at the start of the qualifying cycle. Their next challenge comes on Tuesday, 18 November, when they travel to Budapest to face Hungary. The Hungarians are unbeaten after three rounds but are still searching for their first win, having collected three points.
Ivica Olić’s men will look to maintain consistency and take another step toward qualifying for the 2027 European Championship, which will be held in Albania and Serbia.
