The Croatian Football Federation (HNS) today hosted a meeting with representatives of the Embassy of Canada in the Republic of Croatia, focused on cooperation in the lead-up to the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, as well as on organisational and fan-related aspects of the Croatian national team’s matches in Canada.

The delegation of the Embassy of Canada was led by Ambassador Jessica Blitt, joined by Trade Commissioner Synthia Dodig. The Croatian Football Federation was represented by A national team manager Iva Olivari, Head of Communications Tomislav Pacak, and Head of the Department of Prevention, Safety and Integrity Miroslav Marković.

During the meeting, discussions centred on the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, with particular emphasis on the match between Croatia and Panama, which will be played on June 23 in Toronto, where a large number of Croatian supporters is expected, including members of the sizeable Croatian community in Canada. Special attention was given to security, logistical and communication aspects related to the stay of the national team and its fans, as well as to opportunities to further strengthen cooperation between the Federation and the Embassy in the coming period.

"We would like to thank Ambassador Blitt and our colleagues at the Embassy of Canada for their openness, proactiveness and willingness to cooperate ahead of the FIFA World Cup. We expect a large number of Croatian fans at the match in Toronto, and we are pleased that the Embassy of Canada shares our desire to ensure that supporters receive accurate and comprehensive information in a timely manner regarding entry into and stay in Canada," said A national team manager Iva Olivari.

Ambassador of Canada to the Republic of Croatia Jessica Blitt highlighted the importance of sport as a bridge between the two countries.

"Football has a unique power to bring people and communities together, and we are delighted to welcome the Croatian national team and its fans to Toronto. We are confident that Canada will be an excellent host for all national teams and their supporters, and of course our Embassy is particularly looking forward to the match between Croatia and Panama. The Embassy of Canada is at the disposal of the Croatian Football Federation for assistance and support, and we are certain that we will enjoy strong and high-quality cooperation ahead of and during the FIFA World Cup," said Ambassador Blitt.
