A day after the World Cup opening match against Brazil, Croatia head coach Niko Kovač summarized his feelings and took a glimpse into the future.

Croatia had to admit defeat in the first match of the Group A. Brazil won 3:1, despite Croatia taking the lead and conceding the second goal from the penalty spot.

"My impressions stay the same, we could have managed a draw. We will not discuss the referee anymore, but focus on Cameroon match", said Croatia head coach Niko Kovač upon returning to the base camp.

Numerous Croatian supporters have to right to expect celebrations in Manaus.

"We are allowed to feel optimistic, we have shown an excellent performance against Brazil. Unfortunately, our tactics and our football knowledge was not in the spotlight. We are looking ahead and I believe we can make it to the second round", he added.

On Friday, Mexico beat Cameroon 1:0.

"This evening we will analyze the match. Rest assured that my players will be ready, just as they were yesterday. With Mandžukić we gain extra quality, even though Jelavić was brilliant. Mandžukić could be a crucial factor in the next two matches", said Kovač.

Croatian internationals are well motivated to continue the tournament.

"The atmosphere within the team is better than the usual atmosphere after losing. We were able to parry Brazil, we had our chance. Everybody could see that Croatia played a fantastic match and all will be well should we repeat that. I can see the desire, the fire in my players' eyes, they want to make amends", concluded the head coach.
