On Monday, Croatian midfielder Milan Badelj signed a contract with Italian side Fiorentina, leaving Bundesliga and Hamburger SV.

After two seasons in the top flight of German football, Milan Badelj moved to Italy at the last day of the summer transfer window.

Badelj signed a four-year contract with Fiorentina, having played for Hamburger SV from the summer of 2012. He appeared 60 times in the Bundesliga, and scored two goals.

"In the end, everything happened quickly, but together we have decided to go through with this transfer and we wish all the best to Milan Badelj in his Italian adventure", said HSV's Dietmar Beiersdorfer.

Ivo Iličević thus remains the only Croatian footballer in the HSV squad.

Fiorentina also brought in another Croatian, 18-year-old Rijeka defender Ricardo Bagadur, to be available for the youth team.
