UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino has been elected to the helm of the world football body by 207 FIFA member associations, and pledged to focus on football in a new era for the organisation.
"I congratulate Gianni Infantino for being elected the FIFA president. I am glad that the UEFA candidate, who had the support of Croatia Football Federation as well, won the elections since we are convinced that he is the right person to implement the necessary reforms in FIFA", said Croatia Football Federation president Davor Šuker, the head of Croatian delegation in Zürich.
"Infantino proved himself as an quality leader in UEFA administration that achieved extraordinary success in Champions League and EURO projects. He is undoubtedly an excellent choice to carry out the package of reforms. On behalf of HNS, and my own, I wish him good luck and a lot of success. He will enjoy the full support of UEFA Executive Committee with me as a member, as well as the support of Croatia Football Federation", concluded Šuker.
