The Croatian Football Federation (HNS) and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, through which the two FAs will intensify their cooperation and strengthen their relations.

The Memorandum was signed by HNS president Davor Šuker and TFF president Nihat Özdemir, and it will cover a two-year period during which the two national football associations agree to cooperate on strengthening their relationship, developing the administrative and technical aspects of football in both countries, and promoting the values and traditions of football, as well as its role as a social instrument that contributes to international relations and solidarity.

As part of the cooperation described in the Memorandum, the two FAs plan to exchange their mutual expertise and experiences on youth development, coaching education, referee education, VAR implementation, referee conditioning and fitness, infrastructure development, competition management, and other administrative and technical issues.

“This Memorandum is a testament to the longstanding friendship between the football associations of Croatia and Turkey. I believe that there’s certainly room for us to work together even more closely and strengthen our cooperation further, and I know that signing this document is an excellent step in that direction,” said HNS president Davor Šuker.

Stating that the cooperation is of great importance, TFF President Nihat Özdemir said, “Croatia is an important football country and has a football culture that will contribute to us. Our joint work on administrative and technical issues will be very productive for both Federations. With this collaboration, we will show once again the importance of the universal role of football. I believe that the 2-year agreement will benefit Turkish football a lot. This agreement will be an example of solidarity for other Federations”.

TFF first vice-president and UEFA ExCo member, Servet Yardımcı added: “This agreement will allow both countries to move forward and develop in football. We have had very good relations with Croatia for a long time. It is now fully formalized. There is a lot to learn from each other for the development of both Turkish and Croatian football. They proved their success by playing the final in the last world cup. Croatia has made great progress in youth development. We also have a very talented population in football. Now we will go further together. I believe we will make great contributions to the development of football with the projects we will produce together. Hoping to bring success for both countries.”
